Alnham : The Towerhouses

Two medieval towers are known to have stood at Alnham. The turf-covered remains of the 'castle', as it is often termed, situated on the knoll opposite the church. This functioned as the manorial centre and was held by the Earl of Northumberland.

The other tower still stands beside the Church of St Michael and was built to house the vicar.
