Case Study: Stonehaugh Community Hall

Amount awarded: £48,000

The multi-purpose Community Hall in Stonehaugh is being built using a sustainable development approach.

The building is heated from a geothermal ground source, with the water heated by solar thermal panels. Power is generated by a combination of solar photovoltaic cells, and wind turbines. The carbon-neutral building also recycles rainwater, helping to conserve natural resources.

The building will be the focal point for community activity for many years to come. The new Community Hall has been match funded by Northern Rock, Tynedale Council, Awards for All, and the Government Office for the North East.
