Be responsible with your rubbish

Chesters Roman Fort and Museum in Northumberland National Park by Roger Clegg.

Please don’t spoil landmarks like Chesters Roman Fort and Museum by dumping your rubbish.

Northumberland National Park is a beautiful place filled with wildlife. By taking your litter home or putting it in the bin, you keep it special. You also save birds and animals from becoming trapped in plastic.

Where to take your recycling

There are more than 170 recycling points across the county for rubbish like glass and hard plastic bottles. They’re often near pubs and shops, so are pretty convenient. If you’re self-catering holiday, please ask the owners about the nearest point.

Dog mess

Please clear up all dog mess and dispose of it responsibly in litter bins. Please don’t hang it in plastic bags from trees or walls. It looks awful and can harm wildlife when the bags eventually fall off.
