Northumberland National Park Authority - Full Authority

Northumberland National Park Authority consists of 22 members who are appointed to represent local interests and communities and also national interests. Full information on our members is given in the members area.

All committee meetings are open to the public and you are welcome to attend.  Members of the public can ask questions at the beginning of meetings of the Full Authority (held March, June, September and December). To enable us to give full answers, we ask you to send in questions in writing, to reach us at least ten working days before the meeting.

All meetings of the Full National Park Authority will take place at National Park Headquarters, Eastburn, Hexham.

Northumberland National Park Authority - Development Control Committee

The Development Control Committee consists of 11 Members, with a representation reflecting the balance of Members from the three appointing groups (County Council, Secretary of State Parish Council appointees and Secretary of State National appointees).

The committee has responsibility to exercise the Authority's powers and duties in relation to all Development Control matters arising from all current and extant planning legislation, except where those powers are delegated to Officers or to the Development Control Panel.

All Development Control Committee meetings are open to the public and you are welcome to attend.  The opportunity for public speaking relating to the planning applications being considered is available at all Development Control Committee meetings.  For further details please look on the Development Control Committee pages.

Northumberland National Park Authority Standards Committee

The Standards Committee comprises three Independent Members and four Members of the Authority and, as required by the Local Government Act 2000, was established  to promote and maintain high standards of conduct by Members of the Authority; through adoption and operation of a Code of Conduct; to determine complaints referred by the Standards Board to the Committee for local determination; and to investigate or comment on any matters relating to ethical standards referred to it by the Chief Executive (National Park Officer) or the Monitoring Officer.

Northumberland National Park Authority Strategic Leadership Panel

The Strategic Leadership Panel consists of seven Members of Northumberland National Park Authority and the Officers on the Strategic Management Team . The Members include the Chairman, Deputy Chairman and six* Lead Members elected at the Annual Meeting who each take on responsibility for an element of the National Park Management Plan or an area of the Authority's work.

The role of the Strategic Leadership Panel is to advise the National Park Authority, the Chief Executive (National Park Officer) and the Strategic Management Team on the strategic exercise of its powers and to propose a 3 year rolling business plan and annual budget for consideration by the National Park Authority.

Northumberland National Park Authority Review Panel

Seven Members of the Authority comprise the Review Panel.  The purpose of the Review Panel is to carry out a scrutiny and audit of Northumberland National Park Authority. It is our own independent scrutiny committee which is given a brief to overview all activities to ensure compliance, sound governance and sound stewardship. It is concerned with the review of any aspect of Nortumberland National Park Authority whether that be organisation, strategies, policies, procedures or operations.
