Equalities Forum

In June 2008 the Authority established an Equalities Forum to help the Authority with consultation and challenge to its equalities work. Forum members are encouraged to consider all equality strands and not just champion specific interests. They act as counsel to the Authority as well as auditor and they monitor the Authority’s progress on improving the delivery of its services to the public.

The Forum meets quarterly. Their work in 2009 included: reviewing equality impact assessments, training, familiarisation with the organisation, and site visits to look at access. The site visits and subsequent discussions have already resulted in improvements made, and/or planned for completion in early 2010, to a picnic area, footpaths, handrails and entrances at Ingram and Once Brewed visitor centres and Walltown Quarry.

If you feel you have the right qualities and experience to sit on the Forum and would like to see services and conditions improve for those who may be affected by inequality, we would welcome your application to join.
