Saturday, November 28 - 2.30pm – 5.00pm

Rothbury First School - Fee: £12 / £10 concessions

Come and hear traditional songs of the Coquet Valley and rural upland areas sung by a local singer, and then have the chance to learn them with the help of a vocal facilitator.

Local traditional singer David McCracken will sing songs related to the work, landscape, history, pastimes and customs of the valley and surrounding area. David is an experienced local singer who was brought up in the Coquet Valley and now farms near Tarset.

Participants will then have the opportunity to learn some of David’s songs with the help of Kat Davidson. Kat’s roots are firmly in the rural uplands of Northumberland. She is a popular young leader, and a local lass who teaches, writes and performs songs from the folk tradition.

Each of the two workshops will introduce some different repertoire, so you may like to come to either or both of the sessions.

This project is funded and supported by the Northumberland National Parks Area Fund.
