On Saturday 18th March, meeting in the Harbottle Castle car park, we’ve an initial training session which is aimed at helping volunteers who would like to guide future visitors and groups around the site.
We’ll hear about the history and archaeology, how a castle worked as part of the built environment, who lived there, how they ate and were clothed and how they’d defend the place.
We’re being joined by our partners Northumberland National Park and their young archaeologists. The event is open to all; you don’t have to volunteer for anything!
Please note that sensible footwear and suitable outdoor/waterproof clothing is essential and visitors should be capable of managing steep gradients and uneven surfaces. We regret there’s no disabled access at present.
