The National Park Areas are four locations in and around the National Park where local people can get involved in taking their communities forward. In order to help them to do this, a small grants scheme operates called the Areas Fund. It is aimed at enabling local people and organisations to conserve, enhance, enjoy, or understand the landscape, culture, traditions, wildlife, history, places or communities in and around Northumberland National Park.

The Area Fund is suitable for small projects that will make an immediate difference to the National Park. Although there are no limits on funding, as a guide the average grant is for £3,000. Projects must meet the objectives of the Northumberland National Park Authority and the Area that the project will take place in. Please see the eligibility guidelines for more information on what we can and cannot support in terms of the project funding. The funding decisions will normally be made within 28 days by Northumberland National Park Authority.
