Equalities
Ingram Village Hall An equal society allows people to live and work in way where everyone can flourish, recognising different needs, situations and goals and removing any barriers that limit what people can do and can be.
Equality is necessary for:
- Human Rights. It is a basic right to be free from prejudice and discrimination.
- A Thriving Society. An equal society gives greater social cohesion.
- A Strong Economy. A modern economy prospers in a culture of equality.
The Pantry at Overacres Northumberland National Park Authority believes that everyone has the right to be treated fairly and to have the opportunity to fulfil their potential, therefore grants will only be issued to groups that adopt and practice the principles of equal opportunities.
Fallen Tree Carpentry Legislation against discrimination has been very important in raising the profile of equalities. It has helped to establish the public value of eliminating prejudice and unfairness, given representation and voice to different groups, and ultimately made a difference to people’s behaviour.
All funding recipients must therefore be socially inclusive of anyone involved with the project, regardless of these protected characteristics: age; disability; gender reassignment; pregnancy and maternity; race; religion or belief; sexual orientation; marriage and civil partnerships.
Will your proposed project actively:
- Promote equalities and/or diversity?
- Discriminate or present any barriers to equality?
All applicants requesting £5,000 or greater from Northumberland National Park Authority must submit an equal opportunities statement.
