A grant awarded through the Coquetdale Area Fund supported the first event of the Northern Downhill Mountain Bike Downhill series for 2009.

The event is part of a series of nine events taking place throughout 2009, the first race took place in Kidland Forest over the weekend of April 4, 2009.

The grant contributed towards the costs for running the event, and specifically towards the provision of the uplift service to get race competitors from the valley bottom to the start of the steep and technical track within the forest.

The event was a success and drew in competitors from all over the country and feedback on the new race-only track was extremely positive.

Please Note - the Northern Downhill Kidland track is strictly for event use only - it must not be accessed or ridden outside of organised events.

A second event was held at the same venue in September 2009 which was also a success and the organisers are hopeful that the series will be developed further for 2010.
