Case Study: Rochester Community Garden
National Park North Tyne & Redesdale Area Fund - Amount Awarded: £2,667
Following Sustainable Development Fund support towards the refurbishment of Rochester Village Hall, Area Funds were used towards the development of a community garden on waste ground adjacent to the hall.

Rochester - before
The Area Funds grant was used to purchase materials to develop the site, with the work being undertaken by National Park Rangers and Traditional Boundaries, Traditional Skills trainees, and the Seeding Change Project.
The project has included new fencing, a new all-user ramped access, patio area, wilflower planting, laying of turf, and furniture. This work has transformed an unsightly patch of unused ground into a true community space which will support the functions of the Village Hall.
