Become a Sustainable Business

It is the aim of Northumberland National Park to support and promote tourism development that celebrates respects and contributes to the protection and enhancement of the special qualities of the National Park

We are currently updating our website and would like to provide dedicated free space to those businesses that can demonstrate their commitment to this aim.

Any business that would like to express an interest in being either listed or promoted on the National Park website must be able to demonstrate at least one of the following to be considered:

Checklist

You have received either a Sustainable Development Fund grant or a National Park Action Area grant to develop or enhance their business
You have participated in the Green Tourism Business Scheme
You have received another recognised environmental awards e.g. Cumbria Business Environment network award, David Bellamy Award for Conservation, etc
You have entered into an Agri-Environment Scheme
You have acquired both the Cyclist and Walkers Welcome accreditation for your business
You have received a recognised environmental accreditation such as ISO 14001 or an equivalent environmental accreditation
You have a published business ethos to promote enjoyment and understanding of the countryside
You can clearly demonstrate that your 'main business' is to promote awareness, enjoyment, and understanding of the special qualities of the National Park e.g. Bird watching holidays, guided walks, etc
You have contributed to the National Park Authority’s Visitor Payback scheme
