The Byre Vegetarian B&B at Harbottle offers quality non-smoking accommodation while aiming to be as environmentally friendly as possible. The house, originally a 19th century stone-built farm byre, is a unique modern conversion. The house is simply furnished in a minimalist elegant style. Bonny Barn was built in 2002 to provide self catering accommodation to cyclists using the Pennine Cycleway.
The Byre has been awarded a 4-Star rating and Silver Award under the Quality Assurance Scheme of the English Tourism Council. It also participates in the ‘Walkers Welcome’ and ‘Cyclists Welcome’ schemes, is CTC Approved and has been awarded Level 1 Mobility within the National Accessible Scheme.
There is no mobile phone signal in Harbottle but guests are welcome to use the prepaid landline. Harbottle does have Broadband Internet Access though, and guests are welcome to use the internet at The Byre.
Guests can to relax and unwind in the calm and restful sitting room. There are local maps and binoculars for guests use and local tourist information as well as TV/video/DVD and Hi-fi. The Dining area has a well-stocked tea/coffee making table. Guests can have their own food in our dining room and use crockery, glasses and cutlery at no extra charge. The entrance is tiled, so wet and/or muddy walkers/cyclists/travellers can walk straight in! However, guests are asked to to leave their outdoor footwear at the entrance Guests’ house-socks for comfort indoors are provided.
The Lilac bedroom can be offered as either a double or twin room. The spacious private bathroom is right next to the bedroom door and is equipped with an oval bath, separate shower unit, basin and toilet. The room itself has bedside lamps, thermostic radiator controls, electric blankets and hairdryers.
The Blue Room is perfect for a short stay and can be booked as either a twin or double room. The room has an ensuite bathroom and has thermostic radiator controls, electric blankets and hairdryers.
