Impromptu Tea Room

The former school house in Elsdon is home to the Impromptu Tea Room, which provides welcome refreshments to many visitors. The building dates back to the early 1700s and customers can enjoy the wonderful views across the village of Elsdon and the surrounding area.

The menu caters for vegetarians and includes their famous Gibbet Fruit Cake. Walkers on the Alternative Coast to Coast and Cyclists on the Pennine Cycleway are especially welcome.

Set amidst some of the most beautiful contryside in Northern England, the village of Elsdon is a circle of houses around one of the largest village greens in England. The green  is dominated by the Pele Tower at it's northern end has at its centre a 13th century church. There is a public house and pottery/art gallery in the village.
