Read the Core Strategy and Development Policies Submission

We have now submitted the Core Strategy to the Government for Independent Examination

This is the document that, when complete, will set out the overall spatial planning strategy for Northumberland National Park to 2021. There are a number of stages involved in preparing this document.

Core Strategy and Development Policies DPD Submission 2008

We underwent consultation on the Core Strategy and Development Policies DPD (Submission Stage) between 13 June – 25 July 2008. A table of all comments received can be found here.

We are now approaching the final stages of preparation of the Core Strategy. When complete the Core Strategy will set out the overall planning strategy for Northumberland National Park to 2021 and policies within it will be used to determine planning applications. We have now submitted the Core Strategy to the Government for Independent Examination.

The Government will now appoint a Planning Inspector who will hold an Examination in Public before making a decision as to whether the Core Strategy is ‘sound’, the Inspectors report is binding on the National Park Authority details on the examination can be found here.

Core Strategy Issues and Options Consultation Summer 2006 (Complete)

This was the first stage, consultation on issues and possible options. The Core Strategy Issues and Options document has been subject to an independent Sustainability Appraisal. The Sustainability Appraisal Report assesses the extent to which the options identified in the Issues and Options document would contribute towards sustainable development.

Between the 30 June and 11 August 2006 we consulted on the following documents:
