Northumberland National Park Authority Performance Assessment 2010
National Park Authority Performance Assessment (NPAPA) aims to help each National Park Authority understand its strengths and weaknesses to help in its improvement process. This enables us to address any weaknesses and exploit any opportunities to improve our service.
NPAPA took place between 15th and 19th November 2010. Many partners, stakeholders and staff representatives were invited to talk to the assessors about the Authority. The assessment team consisted of five people from a wide range of backgrounds.
The assessment team were provided with a self assessment document, on which they based their enquiries. The week was spent interviewing various partners, stakeholders and staff representatives.

The team then produced a report, the results of which were very positive. The report identified that the Authority is delivering to a very high standard in six of the seven areas of its work that were assessed. Two aspects, the quality of the Authority’s vision and plans to deliver the vision, and the Authority’s work on wider sustainable development are assessed as showing exceptional and national exemplary performance. No areas of the Authority’s performance were considered to be performing below an acceptable standard.
