Cheviot Hills Gallery
We are looking for keen (amateur) photographers to contribute to our webpage. One idea that has emerged through the work of the project so far, is to put together a ‘Cheviot Gallery’ of photographs taken by local people/volunteers. These pictures would capture the essence of the Cheviots over the next 12 months, and could include the following; landscapes, settlements, people and heritage of the area.
Image of the month
Each month a new image will appear here which you will be able to download, if you have a favourite shot which you would like to share then please send it in.
May’s image of the month – Looking up the College Valley

As well as these general images other ideas which have arisen include:
- identify a number of key view points to take regular photos, perhaps monthly
- photographic records of walks routes (a series of shots recording a walk in the Cheviots)
- detailed photographic records of key sites, including things highlighted in the Heritage Asset mapping process
- recreating historical images.
The photos will be put onto the website for all to view and will be regularly updated. Some of the images may also be used in future newsletters and publicity, including the Heritage Atlas.
We would also welcome copies of old photographs which could be displayed on the webpage or included in the Heritage Atlas.
So if you are interested in getting involved with this part of the project contact the Project Officer for more details.
