Members - General Information
Northumberland National Park Authority provides general information on members, including details of who they are and what they do.
Our Members and what they do:
Northumberland National Park Authority consists of 22 members who are appointed to represent local interests and communities and also national interests.
Twelve members are appointed from local authorities within whose boundaries the National Park is situated: six by Northumberland County Council, three by Tynedale Council, two by Alnwick District Council and one by Berwick-upon-Tweed Borough Council.
Ten members are appointed by a government minister, the Secretary of State for Rural Affairs and Urban Quality of Life. Four of them represent Parish Council interests and are nominated by the four groupings of Parish Councils: Hadrian's Wall; North Tyne and Redesdale; Upper Coquetdale; and Cheviot.
The other six Secretary of State appointees represent the national interest and are individuals, usually local, with specialist knowledge or a particular interest in the National Park.
