Statutory Development Plans and Land Use Proposals

Northumberland National Park Authority is the strategic and local planning Authority for the area. It is responsible for preparing both the Structure and Local Plans for the area, including minerals and waste local plans. These plans set out the land use planning framework for the area. The National Park Authority is producing a Joint Structure Plan with Northumberland County Council.  It has prepared both the National Park Local Plan and the National Park Minerals Plan which will be replaced by the Local Development Framework.

The Government sets down the shape of, and administers the planning system. It issues guidance to local planning authorities via national and regional planning guidance.
