National Park and Hadrian's Wall Bus launch 'Kids-Go-Free Mondays'
Kids play at Once Brewed Visitor CentreNorthumberland National Park and the Hadrian’s Wall Bus (AD122) have devised a great new combination for parents stuck for something cheap and fun to do with the kids this summer.
Every Monday two kids can go free on bus number AD122 when an adult purchases a Rover Ticket for £8 which runs from Newcastle and Carlisle railway stations, and links every station in between with all the main sites on Hadrian’s Wall. This summer, Hadrian’s Wall Heritage are giving free activity packs on the bus with this offer too.
The Rover ticket lets you travel all day and hop on and off the bus anywhere you like along the route.
New for 2010 is Once Brewed Wild Play Woodland next to the National Park Centre. The bus stops right outside the centre and there will be friendly staff around every Monday in the school holidays (except the Bank holiday), 10.00 to 11.30am and 2.30-4pm to give parents and children some great ideas of how to wild play in the woodland.
Further west, families can get off at Walltown Quarry recreation area for a quick 30 minute walk to a really spectacular bit of Hadrian’s Wall or just relax and feed the ducks! It’s right next door to the Carvoran Roman Army museum too.
There are refreshments, picnic facilities and toilets at both Once Brewed and Walltown and there is a voucher for a free cuppa or ice cream in the bus activity pack that can be redeemed at either venue.
The fun starts this Monday, 26th July, when Maximus, the Roman Centurion officially opens Once Brewed Wild Play Woodland at 1pm.
