Northumbrian Water Requirements

Northumbrian Water Limited is the service provider that maintains the existing public sewers in the National Park area.

Sometimes proposals for residential extensions involve building over public sewers. This is normally allowed providing that certain conditions are met to protect the sewer and indemnify the Company.

On rare occasions the position of the sewer can affect the size of the extension allowed. In these instances the size of the extension will need to suit the existing conditions or the sewer has to be diverted. The advice of the Building Control Section should be sought at an early stage.
