Wildlife webcams
Walltown birdbox
This box was put up in March, 2009 and has been occupied by a family of blue tits for the past few years. Images are recorded on an Axis 207 wireless IP camera with a 5V LED providing supplementary lighting on a timer between 7:00am and 7:00pm GMT.
Cawfields birdbox
This box was also put up on 7th March 2009 and has been occupied by great tits and sparrow in the past. Images are recorded on an Axis M1011 IP camera with a 5V LED providing supplementary lighting on a timer between 7:00 and 19:00 GMT.
Once Brewed east birdbox
This box was put up on February 2010 and was immediately occupied by a family of sparrows. Images are recorded on an Axis M1011 IP camera with a 5V LED providing supplementary lighting although because of the amount of nesting material sparrows use, you will do well to get a glimpse of the eggs and young chicks!
Once Brewed west birdbox
This box was put up in March 2009 and images are recorded on an Axis 207W IP camera with a 5V LED providing supplementary lighting on a timer between 7:00am and 7:00pm GMT. We have had problems with wasps nesting in this box on a couple of years but it looks as if they have been kicked out and we have new residents at last!
Hadrian's Wall barn
This camera is located in a barn loft in the Hadrian's Wall area. Viewers can take control of the camera and scan 360° around the barn for wildlife. In 2010 the barn was a winter roost for a pair of barn owls and in 2011 they reared four healthy chicks. However, in 2012 the barn owls have not returned although you will still be able to catch a good view of the swallows who routinely nest in the rafters during the summer months.
