Northumberland National Park Authority Performance Assessment 2005
National Park Authority Performance Assessment (NPAPA) aims to help each National Park Authority understand its strengths and weaknesses to help in its improvement process. This enables us to address any weaknesses and exploit any opportunities to improve our service.
NPAPA took place between 18th and 22nd July 2005. Many partners, stakeholders and staff representatives were invited to talk to the assessors about the Authority. The assessment team consisted of five people from a wide range of backgrounds.
The assessment team were provided with a self assessment document (Click here to download the report, PDF format, 483k) on which they based their enquiries. The week was spent interviewing various partners, stakeholders and staff representatives. The team produced a report, the results of which were very positive. (Click here to download the report, PDF format, 207k.) The report identified three areas of best practice and included 26 recommendations. The Team judged the Authority as the equivalent of a "good" Local Authority. The Authority is being recommended to aim to be an "excellent" Authority within three years.
A report summarising the document with responses to the recommendations went before the National Park Authority meeting on 28th September 2005. Click here to download the document (PDF format, 174k).
