Oak Tree in the College Valley, Northumberland National Park

Peter Podmore - Landscape Painter

Coldside Hill by Peter PodmoreColdside Hill by Peter PodmoreSimonside Moors by Peter PodmoreSimonside Moors by Peter PodmoreThe College Valley from Kirknewton and the Newton Tors to the Bizzle Crags on Cheviot is one of the most beautiful and exciting areas of Northumberland, with rivers, grouse moors, wild goats, kaleidoscopic fields, a stone circle and frequent evidence of prehistoric agriculture and settlements, of which Yeavering Bell is the most spectacular example.

Peter Podmore's studio at Westnewton is at the entrance to the valley and most of his work is done from his immediate surroundings. For the last ten years he has been working here in pastels and oils, as far as possible working outside and responding directly to the changing light and seasons of the landscape.

Visitors are welcome to visit the studio, a listed farm building, by appointment. In July he exhibits in the studio as part of the Network Northumberland 'Art Tour'.

Further details and explanations of the work together with information about exhibitions and a map of how to get there, can be found on his website.
