River Habitat Pack
The River Habitat Pack, developed as part of the Bridging the Border project, is principally aimed at 7-11 year olds, Key Stage 2 (England) and Primary 4-7 (Scotland). However, many of the activities can be adapted to make them accessible to a wider range of pupils. The concepts covered include habitats, making and using identification keys, water quality, life cycles, adaptation, food chains and conservation. Click here for further information on specific curriculum links.
The material contained in the pack comprises a whole unit of work with the activities following a logical progression. However, the contents can also be broken down into a series of discrete activities, making it possible for you to select any combination based on your specific requirements.
Sets of the re-usable resources have been included for reference and for photocopying. The pack has been designed so that there are enough re-usable resources for a class to work in 4 groups of 4-6 for the 'group' activities and in 8 groups of 2-3 for the 'paired' activities.
