Look BatsBatsout for Black Grouse in the College Valley, around Simonside and in the Coquetdale area.

May brings the flowering of the Melancholy Thistle which can be found in hay meadows in the North Tyne Valley and Cheviots Upper Coquetdale.

Bats can be seen around settlements, buildings and woods at this time of year.

For woodland walkers, bluebells, primroses and ramsoms come into bloom in May and can be seen around Hareshaw Linn and Bellingham.
