Predominantly a house dwelling species, pipistrelle bats are found around towns and villages where wetlands, farmland, and woodland of all types occur.

Summer nursery roosts are typically located behind exterior boarding and between the top of outside walls and the roofing. Individuals are often found in wall crevices and behind notice boards. Winter roosts are found in all kinds of places from trees to buildings. Midges, caddisflies, mosquitoes and mayflies are amongst their prey species.
