Waxcaps survey

Waxcaps are brightly coloured waxy topped toadstools that favour short moss rich grassland where there has been no ploughing or artificial fertiliser applied.

Sites containing a variety of species indicate an ancient grassland site.

The best time of year to look for waxcaps is from September to November.
