Wooler
Wooler is a natural gateway to the Cheviot Hills and the Northumberland National Park. The busy main street with its inns, specialist shops, working pottery and grocery stores is the leading shopping centre in the area with a reputation for friendly, helpful service.
Wooler is an ideal base for walking, cycling and exploring the Cheviot Hills. St Cuthbert's Way, the long-distance route which links Melrose in the Scottish Borders to Lindisfarne, passes through the town. The hills around Wooler are peppered with ancient hillforts - explore Yeavering Bell and the College Valley.
Situated 15 miles from the beautiful Northumbrian coastline, it is easy to discover Bamburgh, Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands.
Local accommodation includes a youth hostel, caravan and camping sites as well as friendly pubs, hotels, b&bs and cafes.
The Glendale Show is held on the last Monday in August, a Bank Holiday and is well supported by holiday makers and locals.
