The single street is overlooked by the ruins of a 12th Century castle. A path leads up to the Drake Stone, a massive Fell sandstone boulder, and to a glacial lough (lake).

Other services to be found are The Star Inn Pub, which offers a warm welcome and a small shop and crafts centre, car parking is available.
