Cycle Hubs
Market Town Cycle Hubs
New for Easter 2011 are fourteen new cycle routes that have been created around the market towns of Wooler and Haltwhistle, many of which provide clear directions to some of the National Park’s most awe-inspiring scenery

From Haltwhistle, the routes fan out to various points including Hadrian’s Wall and the Wark Forest. They run along the South Tyne Valley and southwards into the North Pennines.
Wooler is the base for exploring the tranquil Cheviot Hills, and eastwards to some of the region’s finest castles and coastal scenery.

The mapped and waymarked routes are designed for a range of ages and abilities, offering something for everyone. They range from 7 to 40 miles in length and from ‘easy’ to ‘strenuous’.
The routes enable people to explore the stunning scenery and local attractions on two wheels without the worry of getting lost. Volunteers from novices to advanced and young to old have trialled the rides, giving very positive feedback.
To guide them on their way two new map leaflets are available from visitor centres, one covering the Wooler-based routes and one for Haltwhistle.
