College Valley © Simon FraserCollege ValleyIn 2007, Northumberland National Park Authority teamed up with Kimmerston Riding Centre, near Wooler, to offer guided rides into the hills of the National Park.

Not everyone who rides owns a horse, so these partnership rides offered the opportunity for experienced riders who do not have their own horse to experience the thrill of riding in the hills.

The first guided ride was held on Sunday, May 27, 2007 in the College Valley and proved to be very popular. The second guided ride took place on Sunday, October 28, 2007. The route took in the diverse landscape of the Coquet Valley with fantastic weather allowing for never forgotten panoramic views of the Border Ridge.

Kimmerston offer hill rides for experienced riders within Northumberland National Park, for more information visit their website.

Due to the nature of these rides, they are available for experienced riders only. You will need to be able to canter confidently and be comfortable riding in open spaces.

For less experienced riders, Kimmerston Riding Centre offers a range of riding opportunities so there is sure to be something for everyone. Other riding centres in and around Northumberland National Park will also offer a range of riding facilities for less experience riders.
