Connecting Light Digital Art Installation

London 2012 Festival digital art installation Connecting Light takes place across the 73 miles of Hadrian’s Wall from Segedunum Roman Fort at Wallsend to Bowness-on-Solway. Over 400 two metre diameter balloons will transmit messages between each other and internal LED lights will change colour in response, so the installation becomes a line of pulsating colours as messages travel through it.

Viewing locations – east to west – are:
• Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths & Museum at Wallsend (www.twmuseums.org.uk/segedunum)
• Vallum Farm & Tea Room (www.vallumfarm.co.uk)
• Errington Arms Corbridge (www.erringtonarms.co.uk),
• Housesteads Roman Fort (www.english-heritage.org.uk/housesteads)
• Steel Rigg/Once Brewed Visitor Centre (www.northumberlandnationalpark.org.uk/visiting/placestovisit/hadrianswallvisiting/oncebrewed)

• Walby Farm Park near Carlisle (www.walbyfarmpark.co.uk)

For those who wish to see Connecting Light independently, a recommended driving route will take visitors across the most dramatic sections of Hadrian’s Wall past a long continual line of balloons.

All the viewing locations will be free and non-ticketed. The best time to see Connecting Light will be in the evening as dusk falls from 8pm to 11pm.

People can also connect across the world through www.connectinglight.info
