National Parks Week 2012

At Walltown Quarry near Greenhead, there will be a chance to zipwire with iconic views of Hadrian’s Wall as your backdrop. Other adventure activities to try at Walltown are a climbing wall, Kite surfing, paddle boarding and slack line walking.

After all that excitement, head down to Once Brewed Visitor centre for Woodcraft, Wild Art and Archery. Both sites will be open for business from 10am – 4pm on both days. There will be a charge for activities at Walltown but activities at our National Park centre at Once Brewed will be free. Please ring 01434 344396 for more information.

The Urban Games and Hip Hop are at Walltown on Thursday 2nd August, 10am-3pm Parkour, Dance and Music Workshops, BMX and Skate Ramps. All for free!

There are light refreshment outlets, picnic tables and toilet facilities at both venues. The village of Greenhead near Walltown has a tearoom and hotel for hot meals and the Twice Brewed Inn next door to Once Brewed also offers hot meals. Apart from that, these are both outdoor venues so please wear suitable clothing in case of rain.

Either side of National Parks Week, our Volunteer Rangers are running a number of free guided walks at various locations throughout the National Park. Click on this link for our website events calendar.
