Volunteeer Ranger Walks - Forts and Flowers

This route follows the Wall to Aesica Fort where a number of very interesting artefacts have been excavated over the years. See the strongroom and the last remaining original altar on the Wall with its modern day "offerings". The walk also gives us a chance to look at the geology and flowers of the area and several ways to recycle Roman masonry. We will return north of the Wall via the new Tipalt Burn path and Thirlwall Castle. 8 miles. 5 hours
