Volunteer Ranger Walk: A walk along Hadrian's Wall

Join a Voluntary Ranger for all or part of a patrol route along Hadrian's Wall and learn a little about the area and the work of the National Park. From the Visitor Centre at Once Brewed the walk takes you up to the Wall, passing Sycamore Gap of "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves" fame to just beyond Housesteads Fort, one of the best preserved Roman forts in Britain. The return via a public footpath and byway to the north gives some excellent views of the Wall and an appreciation of how the native tribes must have felt about it. A fairly strenuous walk with many ups and downs but a much easier return route.8 miles. 5 hours
