Volunteer Ranger Walks - Romans and RuinsA real chance to experience the Roman influence on the area with this walk from the Visitor Centre at Once Brewed. The route follows the Wall to the east passing above Crag Lough before continuing to just beyond the impressive Housesteads Fort. The return, via a public footpath and byway to the north, gives excellent views of the wall and of the famous "Sycamore Gap". A fairly strenuous walk with many ups and downs but a much easier return route. 8 miles. 5 hours.
