Our Planning and Performance Framework

While public sector finances are now much more challenging, we believe it is vital we show leadership in these testing times. Our Business Plan is ambitious and articulates the areas we see as priorities for our resources over the medium-term. As an Authority, we will aim to raise external income in a number of ways and strive to protect our services.

The Business Plan sets out the actions planned by Northumberland National Park Authority; delivery of our plans and the wider outcomes of our National Park Management Plan will require the collaboration of a great number of partners.  We will continue to work with them to ensure that these wider objectives are achieved.

Management Plan

Business Plan

The Authority continues to create a more enterprising and ambitious organisation, and in March 2017, Authority Members adopted a new Business Plan for the period 2017-2021.

The new Business Plan sets out the National Park Authority’s priorities through the five aims of the Management Plan and how the Authority will continue to evolve as an ambitious, forward-looking organisation that is fit for the future.

Operational Plan

Our annual Operational Plans are produced in line with guidance agreed with our funders: the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs; and, the Government’s public sector watchdog, the Audit Commission.

Our Operational Plan is aimed at those who want to understand what the National Park has achieved and what we aim to achieve in the year ahead.  It is a comprehensive document and includes:

  • A summary of our priorities;
  • Details of our current and recent past performances;
  • Plans of action for the coming year.
