Aim 3 - A Living, Working Landscape for Now and the Future

Aim 3 seeks to support economic wellbeing by supporting landowners, tenants and businesses while ensuring that they use sustainable land management and business practices to help achieve the first purpose and second purpose.

A large part of our role takes the form of guidance for land managers while encouraging and supporting their applications for Environmental, and Countryside Stewardship applications.  These schemes ensure our upland land managers are supported for best practice farming methods which then help deliver our purposes as a national park. These might be related to limiting agricultural pollution in our rivers, or maintaining upland hay meadows for bees and other pollinators.

In addition, it is important to note that not all businesses in the national park are agriculture and forestry. We are committed to supporting all our rural businesses were we are able and advocating for them at a regional and national level.
