Getting involved

We regularly offer short-term volunteering opportunities for young people, aged 17 to 25.

Our placements are especially beneficial for those looking for a career in the environmental/countryside sector. They can also be used to help you gain the nationally recognised John Muir Award.

From working with the Ranger Team and collecting data on pollinator species, to small mammal trapping and nature photography, our placements will help you gain valuable skills and knowledge while working in Northumberland National Park.

Read more about some of our previous young volunteers on our website here.

It was a fantastic opportunity. I was able to learn about the conservation of cultural heritage through spending time with the Hadrian’s Wall National Trail ranger and the National Park Archaeologist. Conducting a public rights of way survey gave me an insight into the management of opportunities for public recreation in the national park.
