Aesica fort and Hadrian's Wall Guided Walk

Starting at Walltown, this circular walk with its eastern point at Aesica Fort covers some very rugged and best preserved sections of Hadrian’s Wall.

We will pass mile castles, farms, and lime kilns , and with luck find fossils, whilst taking in the views; which when clear are all the way to Blencathra and across to Dumfries.

Walltown Country Park

On the A69 (Newcastle to Carlisle road) take the B6318, signed ‘Greenhead’ after 1 mile take a left to Walltown. Walltown car park is just past the Roman Army museum on the right. (Hadrian’s Wall Bus stops here).

For those wishing to use GPS/Sat-Nav to find walk start points please note that, particularly in open-country, postcodes cover a large area, so, whilst the postcode will get you to the right general area, you will still need to follow the detailed directions to locate the actual Walk Start Point.
