Join us to walk a short stretch of Clennell Street, a cross border drove route, and visit the little known hillfort of Camp Knowe.

From Alwinton, we start off on Clennell Street, a famous cross Border path and then take the bridleway down towards the River Alwin. Next, we go up the path up Rookland Sike to Old Rookland and hence onto Clennell Hill and Camp Knowe, returning again via Clennell.

From Rothbury take the B6381 west through Thropton. At ‘Flotterton’ take the right signed ‘Alwinton’. Go through Alwinton and the car park is on the right.
