Crag Lough W2W

Event date:
27th May 2022
The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre

This walk takes in some of the most photographed sections of Hadrian’s Wall, and some of the glorious upland hay meadows north of the Wall. Starting from The Sill Landscape Discovery Centre, we cross the military road and walk uphill on a tarmac roadside path before joining the military way to Sycamore Gap. From there we follow the Hadrian’s Wall trail to Hotbank for superb views. Leaving the Wall, we soon arrive at the protected landscapes north of Crag Lough.

The walk then continues past Peat Rigg to Steel Rigg and returns to The Sill.  There will be time at the end to enjoy the exhibition and refreshment facilities of The Sill.

West Tynedale Ramblers Wellbeing Walk Leaders and National Park Volunteers have designed walks suitable for people wanting an introduction to the inspirational landscapes of Northumberland National Park. Whilst still more challenging than urban walks, our friendly leaders have chosen easier routes and will walk at a pace suitable for all.
