Cup and Rings at Lordenshaws Guided Walk

Event date:
18th August 2021
Lordenshaws National Park Car Park

Visit the Hillfort and examine the mysterious Cup and Ring markings before a short walk along the lower ridge east of Simonside.

We walk from the car park to look at the Neolithic ‘Rock Art’ before entering the Iron Age hillfort. Exiting by the east gate we look at a burial cist and cairns before visiting the ‘Horseshoe Rock’. Crossing the road, we climb the 90 steps along the 90 metre long path commemorating 90 years of the W.I.

This brings us to ‘The Beacon’ with fantastic 360 degree views, before we drop down crossing a 13th century deer wall and back to the car park.
