Fanbird Making Workshop

Event date:
3rd October 2021
Time:
13:00

The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre

Fan birds originated in Russia and Eastern Europe as a traditional decoration hung in the home that catch gentle breezes and draw the eye.

They are made from a single piece of wood using simple hand tools only. It needs a steady hand and steadier nerves when it comes to opening your birds wings to reveal your creation. The course runs for 3 hours at The Sill refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon.

No previous experience is needed though we will be working with sharp hand tools and carving knives. Come and try your hand at making these lovely creatures.

This session will run from 1pm until 4pm.
