Guided Bike Ride

Wooler Milk Bar, Brewery Road, Wooler, NE71 6QE

To book a place please email

This guided “stop & look” leisure ride will leave Wooler and go via Akeld and Kirknewton right up the College Valley to Mounthooly bunkhouse  at the end of the road.  It will then re-trace the route down the College Valley and go over the Scottish Border to Kirk Yetholm and Town Yetholm.  The return to Wooler is on the north side of the Bowmont Water and via Milfield and Bendor.

The ride is all on road and goes right into the heart of the Cheviot Hills along the most beautiful valley in the National Park.  At Mounthooly, the summit of Cheviot is only 2 miles away.  There are some strenuous climbs in places, particularly on the last section of the ride up to Mounthooly.

As usual there will be stops to look at places of interest with a lunch stop at Kirk Yetholm or Town Yetholm. There are pubs serving lunch in both the Yetholms.  The Town Yetholm village shop sells hot coffee and a variety of foodstuffs and drinks.  But if you prefer feel free to bring your own packed lunch.

Price: Voluntary donations to Northumberland National Park Foundation payable on the day
