- Time:

- Location:
- Rothbury Riverside Car Park (south)
Following extensive damage caused by Storm Arwen we have taken the decision to cancel all guided walks in January and February.
Please stay away from woodland areas at this time and follow Northumberland National Park Authority on social media for updates. If visitors or the local community would like to report an issue on a right of way within the National Park, please contact stormarwen@nnpa.org.uk.
Further information can be found on the Forestry England website and on the Northumberland County Council Public Rights of Way page.
Start the New Year by following the Coquet westward before enjoying a lofty walk along the Simonside Ridge.
From Rothbury we follow the river westwards before climbing steadily to Great Tosson and it's ruined Bastle. Entering the forest area, we continue the climb to the foot of Simonside. An ascent of the "staircase" takes us onto the Simonside Ridge where we enjoy a spectacular walk with superb views.
Descending to Lordenshaws, we continue through moor and farmland with views over Rothbury before dropping down to our starting point.
