Steel Rigg Circular
- Event date:
- 3rd June 2022
- Time:
- 10:30
- Location:
- The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre
If you only do one Hadrians Wall walk this might just be it. We start at the visitors centre at The Sill and climb up to Steel Rigg, where the views are fantastic.
We then walk the top of the Wall all the way to Housesteads, some would say the best bit. Some of this section is quite up and down and steppy, care is needed. We will pass Sycamore Gap and look down on Crag Lough. We wont be entering Housesteads Fort but you might like to return another time.
We now cross the fells and walk a section of the Stanegate down to Vindolanda, another place to return to, then on to the Stanegate again due west passed one of the few thatched houses in Northumberland, followed by a quiet lane back to The Sill.
