- Time:
- 10:30
- Location:
- Rothbury Riverside Car Park
Enjoy a mid summer walk, taking a lesser known route from Rothbury taking in Garleig Hill and the intriguing Solstice Stone.
Starting from Rothbury Riverside we climb onto Garleigh Hill before dropping down to Lordenshaw. We then climb towards the Beacon and find the intriguing Solstice Stone. If the sun is out we can see the alignment with the Summer sunset and speculate on the origins of the carved hole. Retracing our steps we pass through the Lordenshaw settlement and see the many Cup and Ring markings, before returning to Rothbury.
