Three WW2 Crash Sites

Join us for a 10-mile circular walk from Cuddystone (near Hethpool) encompassing three aircraft crash sites.

We will meet at Hethpool car park and ferry walkers to the starting point - at Cuddystone. We’ll head towards the first site near Madam Law the site where a German Bomber crashed. We’ll then traverse the border ridge before going off piste and up to the Curr up to almost 600m (adjacent to the Schill) visiting where a Mosquito and a Hurricane crashed during the war.

After visiting the remains of the Mosquito and the Hurricane memorial we shall travel across open access land via Black Hag and Blackhaggs Rigg towards the splendid memorial at Cuddystone.

Starting point (please meet here approximately 10 minutes before the walk start time): Hethpool Car Park

Going north past Wooler on the A697, turn left at Akeld onto the B6351. Go past Kirknewton village, and just after the stone bridge look out for a left turn signed 'Hethpool'. The car park is approx 2 miles along the single track road on the left.
